It comes to a point in life, when we look around and see humanity, but not what it means to be human. "I want to find out what it really means to be human," Ephraim says to me, "and I just keep doing crap. The goal isn't to be perfect, but to be who God made us to be. That's what Jesus did. He was the human that God created him to be, and he accomplished all that God had for him... and more."
The bible talks about the early "church" coming together as one. They shared everything, they gave up their possessions, their securities, families and friends. They came together to be one functioning body. Acts 2:41-47
"and not saying that I will ever truly accomplish this, but wouldn't it be nice to live not like I am an Island, but as part of the Ocean. To live and know that God is everything."
After a long discussion in the park one day, Ephraim and I decided we had had enough. We were done buying into the worlds definition of "life" and of "value". We knew there had to be more than this mediocrity. We chose to put aside all that we had held onto so tightly for so long, and to finally allow God to show us what He has for us. I told Ephraim, we could go through life not ever finding anything real, or we could put aside our shit (sorry) and begin to see the real purpose.
After praying, we knew we needed to go back to the beginning.
To refresh.
It is official, WE ARE GOING TO PANAMA.
In January of 2013, we will be leaving our little home in Tacoma Wa, to live in Panama. We will be there for at least one year (if not longer). We are going to be part of the Doulos Christian School that the YWAM base started back in 2009. (YWAM- look it up.)
The opportunity to go to Panama came up a few weeks ago, when their desperate need for teachers was presented to us. The school was started to give a place for these kids to get a good education, to learn English and to hear about God. To be surrounded by people who have God's heart for them. The school was not going to be able to continue if they did not get enough people volunteering to teach next year.
So Ephraim will be teaching Art and P.E to the beautiful children of Panama. We will be living on the base. Since the position is on a volunteer basis, we will need to be completely sponsored. (a fact that neither I nor Ephraim are thrilled about...) But God is bigger than us. As we prepare to go, we are planning quite a few things to help us generate the finances we will need to get to, and live in Panama.
Thank you for helping us, thank you for supporting us, thanks for your prayers, and friendships.
Stay tuned!
